![]() ![]() Hailing from Milwaukee, IshDARR who was sick figuratively and literally as he was battling a cold came out with more energy than most rappers you see on TV. Its rare that I feel my age, but when IshDARR hit the stage with his first lines being "18 yeah 96 and I’m that nice …" I felt old, he was born the same year I started high school. Now Ishdarr, Earthgang, and Chicago rapper Kembe just turned what I had hoped would be a two hour affair into what became three and half hours in a standing room only venue. Cole’s Dreamville artist Jamaica Queens, NY rapper Bas (pronounced bozz) were the only ones on the bill. Another line had just one person to taking tickets, during that wait I was able to see they added three more acts to show. Walking into the Bottom Lounge gave way to a restaurant sports bar atmosphere with TV's booths and old school pinball machines. This was a hip hop crowd through and through with a few G.I.Ts (Groupies in Training).Īn 18 and older show meant X’s on both hands and a wristbands to let people know you are under 21, since I am well past the tender the age of 21 I didn’t get to be CM Punk for the night. And numerous amount of people walking by spouting Ab-Soul lyrics, and an occasional Fuck Meek Mills. After receiving some donations, he then walked across the street and got some McDonald’s. Waiting an hour in line before the doors to open Sarah and I were treated to a young woman struggle to parallel park, a clean and unusually well kept homeless man ask for a few dollars so he can get a decent meal. Last night, Sarah and I ventured out to the west side of Chicago to see TDE’s (Top Dawg Entertainment) artist California rapper Ab-Soul perform at the Bottom Lounge. ![]()
